These Nectarine and Cream Cheese Breakfast Tarts make for a wonderful brunch spread. This is such a simple recipe but will have your family/guests/yourself delighted, and believing that you are a kitchen wizard! I link to my simple rough puff pastry recipe, which will really ‘wow’ everyone. But feel free to use shop bought puff pastry.
I recommend nectarines in place of the ever popular peach, due to the tastier (and less fluffy) skin. You can, of course, sub for peaches if preferred. These truly smell like a dream, and you can always make the pastry ahead of time, so that in the morning you simply slice, top and bake!

Nectarine and Cream Cheese Breakfast Tarts
Makes: 8 Small Tarts
Prep Time: 10 Minutes
Bake Time: 20 Minutes
Total Time: 30 Minutes (+ 40 Minutes of chill time if making pastry)
Ingredients
- 350g Puff Pastry (use my recipe for easy rough puff)
- 4 Medium Nectarines, thinly sliced
- 200g Cream Cheese
- 75g Light Brown Sugar
Method
- Make the puff pastry according to my recipe, or ensure you have it chilled and ready.
- Preheat the oven to 220C/200C Fan/Gas 7. Line two large baking trays.
- Cut the pastry in half, then work with each half separately (leave the remaining pastry in the fridge)
- Roll the pastry to 40x30cm and divide into 4 rectangles. Place these on a baking tray, spaced slightly apart.
- Spread over about 1 tbsp cream cheese on each rectangle, leaving space at the edges. Place some nectarine slices over this, layering up in a diagonal pattern.
- Sprinkle over some brown sugar onto each pastry rectangle. Bake for 15-20 minutes, until the edges are golden brown. Whilst the first batch are in the oven, repeat the process with the other half of the pastry.
- Let cool slightly before serving. They are delicious warm!
