Want to hide the sins of the weekend by starting your week right? Looking to up your green intake in a simple and quick drink? Love Matcha? Love smoothies? I could go on. Whatever the reason, this green goddess matcha and banana smoothie is the best way to start your day (especially with that little caffeine kick from the Matcha).
Incorporating matcha, honey (sub for agave for vegan), frozen bananas, yoghurt and ice for the perfect sweet but still healthy smoothie. Play with any ingredients you like, if you want to add extra fruit or veggies be my guest! Also, it goes great with some hemp/chia thrown in for extra goodness! As with any smoothie recipe, you may need to add a little extra/less liquid to make it the right texture for you! This smoothie is sure to set you up for a great day, whether that’s spent working or knocking up some insane cookies – these “everything but the kitchen sink” cookies have been my go-to of late.
I make my green smoothie with dairy free products (and often sub honey for agave, or omit altogether) so it is usually vegan. However, use any milk or yoghurt you like. Additionally, some blenders are just not powerful enough to blend ice cubes – make sure yours is before attempting it – it can break the blade (600W minimum is my recommendation – this is the blender I use).
For extra ingredients, I recommend throwing in some chia or flax seeds, açai berries, kale, cucumber, celery, apple or any other fruit or veg you have in your fridge that you think will work – nothing too strong tasting! Also, you could add a little vanilla extract or similar to sweeten it up more! As with any smoothie using a lot of leafy greens, make sure to give it a really good blend with a good amount of liquid to avoid that fibrous texture!
