I had never really thought to make my own malt loaf but WOW am I so glad I did! It is such an easy recipe, that comes together in one bowl. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">I make these with a mini loaf tin, but see notes below to make it as a whole loaf! These are definitely best served slightly warmed with a smear of butter! The chocolate chips are a welcome addition to a classic British bake, adding a little glamour to a very traditional thing! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">To make these, you start by adding boiling water to the dried fruit and tea bags. It feels a little odd to add teabags into the mixing bowl but you remove them after letting them brew for a few minutes! You&#8217;ll want to use a classic English Breakfast tea for best results! The combination of ingredients makes for a tasty snack or afternoon tea treat! If you&#8217;re looking for a snack to take on a hike or bike ride, this is a wonderful choice and packs up really easily! <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The outcome is a mini, snackable malt loaf &#8211; similar to the supermarket packaged ones! They are sticky and full of dried fruit and deep malt flavour. You can find it online or in health food stores! Some major supermarkets may carry it too. <\/li><li>Tea &#8211; Use English Breakfast Tea. Nothing fancy or flavoured here! <\/li><li>Dried Fruit &#8211; I like to use raisins, but any combination of raisins\/sultanas will work! <\/li><li>Chocolate Chips &#8211; I find milk works best. You could use finely chopped chocolate too if you struggle to find chocolate chips! <\/li><li>Omit the Chocolate Altogether &#8211; If you just want to make standard malt loaf, omit the chocolate chips and cocoa powder and add 15g more flour.<\/li><li>Make one Large Loaf &#8211; Change it up by pouring all the batter into a lined 2lb loaf tin.
