Molten Cadbury Fudge bars meet Rice Krispies in these delicious Chocolate Fudge Rice Krispie Treats (Marshmallow Free). By avoiding marshmallows these are vegetarian. The texture is perfectly sticky and crispy and all the good things that Krispie Treats are.
This is a no-bake recipe, making life that much easier for you. Simply melt the ingredients, stir in the cereal and let set in the fridge. They’re delicious without the extra chocolate topping, although it adds a little pizzazz, I think. That said, feel free to decorate however you want.
Make sure to allow time for the treats to set. This makes them a great bake to make the night before taking to work/school. Alternatively, make them on your ‘work from home’ lunch break and they’ll be ready before your meetings are over. Keep them in the fridge to snack on. Also: this recipe is easily doubled/halved etc.
For these Chocolate Fudge Rice Krispie Treats (Marshmallow Free), I use a basic 8′ square pan (I like this one). Chocolate Fudge Rice Krispie Treats (Marshmallow Free)
Ingredients
- 130 g Cadbury Fudge Bars or any chocolate/fudge
- 35 g Milk Chocolate
- 3 tbsp Golden Syrup
- 3 tbsp Butter
- 90 g Rice Krispies Cereal
For the Chocolate Top Layer
- 150 g Milk Chocolate
- 50 g White Chocolate
- Sprinkles Optional
Instructions
- Line an 8" square pan
- Combine the butter, golden syrup, chocolate and fudge in a small saucepan. Heat on a very low heat, stirring constantly.
- Once all melted, turn off the heat. Add in the cereal and stir together.
- Press into the pan and chill for 30 minutes.
- Melt the milk chocolate (in a small microwavable bowl, checking and stirring at 20 second intervals). Pour over the krispie treats and spread with a spoon to cover. Repeat with the white chocolate, swirling this around for a nice effect.
- Add sprinkles or other decorations if desired. Let set for about an hour before slicing. Keep in the fridge in between taking pieces out to eat!
