The Easiest Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread

Jump to Recipe

Exactly as the title suggests, the recipe for The Easiest Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread is a dream. This banana bread will come out perfectly moist in the middle, and crisp at the edges every time. I pack in some white chocolate chunks, and create a simple marble effect for gorgeous results.

For the marbling, you take about a cup of the batter and add some chocolate and cocoa powder. Then, just add alternating scoops of regular and chocolate batter to a lined tin. Swirl a little, and that’s it!

With any banana bread, the key to success is a good amount of liquid and some yummy mix-ins. I go for white chocolate in this recipe. Feel free to use any chocolate/nuts you like. Be careful not to overmix the batter, as that can cause these to become a little dry/dense.

Even if you’re not a huge banana lover, I think these have the ability to convert. The amount of banana means the flavour is there but baked and sweet, so it is less ‘in your face’. Make sure to use very ripe bananas. Bananas that are starting to brown/getting REALLY brown are the best as they are the sweetest. I sometimes buy bananas and let them sit on the counter for a while specifically for this purpose.

I make The Easiest Marbled Chocolate Banana Bread in a classic 2lb loaf tin (like this one) and recommend a high speed mixer (with a mixer like this). If you want more banana bakes, check out these Banana Bread Cookies or these Banana Streusel Muffins. Ingredients

  • 110 g Butter Melted
  • 2 Medium Bananas
  • 75 g Light Brown Sugar
  • 50 g Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Medium Egg
  • 200 g Plain Flour
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 150 g White Chocolate Roughly Chopped

For the Chocolate Marbling

  • 2 tsp Cocoa Powder
  • 30 g Dark Chocolate Melted

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 200C/180C Fan/Gas 6. Line a 2lb loaf tin.
  • In a large bowl, mash the bananas. Then add the butter, both sugars and the egg (ensure the butter has cooled a little so the egg doesn’t cook). Mix with a wooden spoon until combined.
  • Add the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda and white chocolate. Stir until just combined.
  • Scoop out about a cup of batter into another bowl. Add the melted dark chocolate and cocoa powder. Stir until combined.
  • Use tablespoons to scoop the batter into the lined tin, alternating between each time until all used up. Use a spoon to lightly swirl the mixtures together (not too much so that it actually combines).
  • Bake for 40-45 minutes, until a skewer inserted comes out clean. Let cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving.
