This Cherry Bakewell Smoothie recipe is a quick and easy way to start your day – based off a fabulous dessert and packed with cherry and almonds; it’s also full of nutrition and low in fat! This smoothie is super simple, nutritious and easily made vegan (as shown below, but feel free to sub for whatever milks/dairy you like), and doesn’t require too many ingredients. That said, as with any smoothie, it is an incredibly versatile recipe, so feel free to add in your own extras!

If you’re anything like me, you may want something a little sweet to start the day, but can’t quite justify having lots of pastry every day (although, go you if you do!). This Cherry Bakewell Smoothie is a great way to jump start your day with lots of healthy things, and is great for an on-the-go breakfast or as a boost for those who don’t like to eat when they first wake up.

I’ve provided a basic recipe, but do feel free to add your own extras! Also, this serves 1 comfortably or divide into two glasses to go alongside breakfast! If you’re wanting a smoothie that also has its own caffeine kick, try out this Green Goddess Matcha Smoothie, or for a more filling, hot breakfast, try these Chai Latte Oats.

Notes for the best Cherry Bakewell Smoothie:

Berries: Fresh or Frozen are fine! Remember frozen may give more rigidity/solidity than you want, so some extra water or milk may be needed.
Almonds: Use some extract and some real nuts for the best combination.
Cherry Flavour: I find for the best cherry flavour, you’ll want some yoghurt and actual cherries, but feel free to play with whatever you have! If you can’t find cherry yoghurt, a strawberry or blackberry would work well!

Some extras to take this to the next level:

Flax Seeds: Full of Omega-3s and other nutrients, add a tbsp to the blender to add fibre and protein!
Chia Seeds: Again, full of fibre to keep you fuller for longer!
Spinach/Leafy greens: These might make the colour a little more brown but add heaps more nutrients to your breakfast!
Protein Powder: If you’re looking to add more protein to your day, add a scoop of your favourite protein powder! Vanilla and fruity flavours will work best with this, although chocolate makes for a great Black Forest vibe!
